Spawncast Episode 1

Dear reader(s),

Allow us to present to you the newest, bestest, awesomest part of Spawn Camp: Spawncast. This is our feeble attempt at providing more content. Mostly, we just wanted to have an excuse to get together and talk about video games for a while. If you’re interested in hearing three random dudes’ thoughts on the future of gaming retail, Mass Effect 3, retro NES games and the Sega Genesis precursor to Kinect, then this is for you. If you are not interested in any of those things, then (just like with Star Wars) stay far, far away from Episode 1.

A word of warning: this first episode weighs in at a whopping 40 minutes and is pretty visually boring. There is some old-school off-screen gameplay footage of Mass Effect and ME3, but other than that it’s just three talking heads. Feel free to let the video play in the background while you do more important things.

    I loved this.

When you were talking about what will happen next to the Mass Effect series, I agree that a console MMO would be the only viable option. Since ME has been really an XBox venture, they’d lose their core audience by going to PC. And Bioware also is behind The Old Republic, so they might be hurting their own product by splitting the audience (two sci-fi MMOs with the same developer might be too much). I’d love to see a realtime strategy game though, but I don’t know if the relative un-success of Halo Wars might affect that decision.

I think Bioware’s really on top of their game though. The ME franchise, the Old Republic is doing great, and even the Dragon Age franchise has found a hold in the fantasy RPG genre (and I liked DA2 for the record).

Overall, this was a really cool idea! Great job guys!
